What is the purpose of HEArt?

HEArts purpose is to help students build online portfolios without the hassle of having to construct their own websites from scratch. A website is considered crucial in today’s creative world, but there aren’t many opportunities that truly teach young creatives how to go about this process. We’re here to make this easier! By working as a collective, we allow students to have a place where they can share their art, put posts onto our public blog as a call for collaboration, promote projects or real-life exhibitions, and soon we’ll be adding a way for them to sell their work and start building a source of income through their art.

We also function as a search engine; when students tag their work (photography; landscape, portraiture, etc), other users will be able to search these tags in order to find fellow creatives to collaborate with.

A film student looking for actors? HEArt can help!

HEArt aims to make navigating online much more accessible and intuitive for users. Our team will moderate posts and profiles to ensure it remains a safe, open space, free from discrimination, prejudice, and theft.

"Kori Thompson, also known as Biometricality, is a photographer currently studying at Birmingham City University, having studied photography for three years previously. He specialises in Fashion, Fine Art, and Nude Photography, and has a great interest in the abstract and unusual. "I'm Trinity McCarthy, and I am HEArt’s project manager and organiser. I primarily specialise in portrait photography, although I do a lot of architectural and street photography. I like to think of my camera as a device to tell a story, rather than just take a pretty picture. I have a great love of analogue photography and collect vintage cameras, taking them out and grabbing a good shot with them is my favourite thing to do whenever I have a free weekend!"

- Trinity McCarthy (2024)

"My name’s Ronan Grayson, I’m a second year in BCU’s Photography Bachelor course. I’m very open to creative exploration and am still finding my particular niche within the industry. I’m HEArt’s social media manager, so you’ll find me on our Instagram!"
