'Pretty Dolls' touches on the social performances known as Gender and Sexuality, using mannequins over models to emphasise the disconnect between what those around us see and who we really are past the assumptions.
When faced with my end-of-year assignment, creating a project that speaks out on a societal issue of our choosing, I decided to explore gender expression through fashion, and more specifically, the transgender experience. Being a member of the LGBTQ+ community, this project was extremely personal to me, and having the support of my like-minded peers made all the difference.
