How far can I push?

'What A Waste.' is a project created under modelling agency UKIYOs client brief, given to us through BCU. This project was to, primarily, see how we would fare working under a client. The brief was simple, put together a fashion-based shoot that included commentary on fast fashion and sustainability in the fashion industry. The only rule was "no nipples, no genetalia". For me, this was just like any other client shoot I just got to play with a bit more and, me being myself, I decided to push this one rule to its limits.

I have a great fascination for the human form and, at a base level, I do not understand societies general aversion. This leads to me pushing against what is considered acceptable in any scenario, as there is only progress when the 'rules' are under strain. After some deliberation, pasties seemed the best choice, and fit into the theme of fast fashion as a statement rather well. The plastic sheeting, too, creating a barrier of sorts between the model and the camera, the distance between the industry and the consumer (don't worry, any and all 'plastics' I used were entirely biodegradable). This shoot certainly turned out more message over complex aesthetics.
